Stupid Hard Drive...
Well, I've been wanting to release the next demo of NRMB for a while now, but I've come very close to the last beta version for my testers and that might become the actual release...
The reason I said wanting is because my hard drive has crashed (lots of bad sectors) and I have lost alot of my data - along with a couple hours of work on NRMB, as well as some school documents/projects etc...
I think I'm up and running again and the beta should be out by this weekend.Friday, February 12, 2010
Oh, the findings...
I have been spending my free time searching through the NSMB ROM for some different images and palettes that I've (along with a few other hackers... like Dirbaio, the current NSMBe Designer...) been looking for, for what seems years now... (I just started NSMB Hacking 3-4 months ago...) Now that I know that Tahaxan is a huge lump of junk when it comes to "4bpp Linear, Reverse-Order (noted through this article as "4bpp" images)" images, I now hardly have any choice but to use NSMB Editor and take my chances decompressing the images/palettes without destroying my ROM permanently...
One think that I have accomplished, though, is being the first hacker (AFAIK) to find the proper palette for NSMB's Logo (on the title screen)... Since I stopped using Tahaxan-Tihaxa, I have noticed that I am actually getting 4bpp images to display properly with palette files that have multiple sub-palettes, something that I like TileMolester for... Anyway, enough "Blah, Blah, Blah", and I'm going to cut to the chase of this blogging...
